Research Story
Chris Velado l Computer Science
"'As a Computer Science major, I found the opportunity to study advanced web programming. During my junior year, I participated in an independent study that allowed me to research web programming practices and implement solutions that extended XML-Interactive, an architecture that allows for rapid application development. Within the following year, I contributed toward the development of TakeTextPoll.com, an online service that allows users to create a text message survey and take the survey on their mobile phones. Thanks to the Teal Award, I was able to present my work at the WORLD COMP ’10 in Las Vegas, NV after my paper was accepted for publication. In 2011, I am researching HTML5 in order to produce a novel web application for musicians that will eventually allow an artist to transcribe music notation through the web. This research experience has been a great ride!"
