Welcome from the Chair
Psychology is a basic and applied science, health profession, and undergraduate liberal arts major. The UNCW Psychology Department supports outstanding undergraduate and graduate programs. Our department is strongly committed to the involvement of undergraduate and graduate students in the research process. Students work closely with our outstanding faculty as junior colleagues to investigate a wide variety of topics including basic brain processes, drug effects, social cognitive factors underlying prejudice, ways to reduce school violence and the evaluation of psychological treatments—to name but a few. Please click on the research link to find out more about the research activities in which we invite you to take part. There can be more to being a psychology student at UNCW than attending classes...a lot more! Students have opportunities to study animal behavior in places like Costa Rica and the Galapagos Islands. Our students engage in service learning and counseling practicum experiences in the community. Motivated students learn to conduct research and present their findings at national research conferences. |
