Our Mission
The UNCW Career Center is a comprehensive career counseling and resource center dedicated to empowering students and alumni as active participants in their own career development. Through career exploration and experiential opportunities, students are motivated to expand their knowledge of themselves and the world of work in a dynamic global community.
The Career Center encourages exploration of students’ work values, interests, skills and personality as it relates to academic and career planning. With Career Center resources, professional knowledge and support, students become responsible for their transition to productive academic endeavors and satisfying employment. The mission is accomplished through collaboration with students, faculty, staff, local, regional and national employers and the community. Through the use of emerging technology, the Career Center enhances outreach efforts to engage and consistently inform students about current developments in an ever-changing job market.
Students can access the services and resources of the UNCW Career Center in the University Union Room 2035, 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday, during the regular academic year or use our special drop-in hours for quick questions every Monday through Friday, 2-4:30pm. The Career Center observes the University’s alternative hours schedule during the summer. Some special programs and events also are available during evening and weekend hours, as scheduled. Currently enrolled UNCW students and alumni are eligible for all services.
Students taking UNCW classes at distant locations or on the web also are eligible for all services. They may visit the UNCW campus offices, access our web services, and contact our staff by telephone and email. Students taking UNCW classes on the Coastal Carolina Community College campus also may use the services and resources of the CCCC Career Center.
