Minimum Course Requirements (MCR)

For students who are UNDER THE AGE OF 24 and are confused about what it means to meet the Minimum Course Requirements (MCR) from high school please refer to the information below:


1.  IF YOUR GRADUATION YEAR WAS 2002 OR 2003 then in order to meet MCR you must have completed the following during high school:


Four (4) units of ENGLISH

Three (3) units of MATHEMATICS

(ALGEBRA I, GEOMETRY, and ALGEBRA II)

Two (2) units of SOCIAL STUDIES

(including one unit of U.S. HISTORY)

Three (3) units of SCIENCE

(including a unit in life or biological science and a unit in physical science; at least one laboratory course)


2.  IF YOUR GRADUATION YEAR WAS 2004 OR 2005 then in order to meet MCR you must have completed the following during high school:


Four (4) units of ENGLISH

Two (2) units of FOREIGN LANGUAGE

(the SAME foreign language; American Sign Language will fulfill this requirement)

Three (3) units of MATHEMATICS

(ALGEBRA I, GEOMETRY, and ALGEBRA II)

Two (2) units of SOCIAL STUDIES

(including one unit of U.S. HISTORY)

Three (3) units of SCIENCE

(including a unit in life or biological science and a unit in physical science; at least one laboratory course)

 


3.  IF YOUR GRADUATION YEAR WAS 2006 TO THE PRESENT then in order to meet MCR you must have completed the following during high school:

 

Four (4) units of ENGLISH

Two (2) units of FOREIGN LANGUAGE

(the SAME foreign language; American Sign Language will fulfill this requirement)

Four (4) units of MATHEMATICS

(ALGEBRA I, GEOMETRY, ALGEBRA II, and a HIGHER LEVEL MATH for which ALGEBRA II is a prerequisite)

Two (2) units of SOCIAL STUDIES

(including one unit of U.S. HISTORY)

Three (3) units of SCIENCE

(including a unit in life or biological science and a unit in physical science; at least one laboratory course)

 

 

 

If you DO NOT MEET one of more of the requirements for SECTION #1 then you MUST COMPLETE these following requirements AT A TWO OR FOUR-YEAR INSTITUTION (OTHER THAN A NC PUBLIC UNIVERSITY) with a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher in order to be considered for admission:

Six (6) semester hours in college-level ENGLISH

Six (6) semester hours in college-level MATHEMATICS

Six (6) semester hours in college-level SOCIAL SCIENCE

Six (6) semester hours in college-level SCIENCE

 

If you do not meet one or more of the requirements for SECTIONS #2 or #3 then you MUST COMPLETE these following requirements AT A TWO OR FOUR-YEAR INSTITUTION (OTHER THAN A NC PUBLIC UNIVERSITY) with a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher in order to be considered for admission:

Six (6) semester hours in college-level ENGLISH

Six (6) semester hours in college-level MATHEMATICS

Six (6) semester hours in college-level SOCIAL SCIENCE

Six (6) semester hours in college-level SCIENCE

Six (6) semester hours in college-level FOREIGN LANGUAGE
