Each year the UNCW Alumni Association holds an Awards Banquet and Scholarship Endowment Gala during homecoming weekend. Those who attend are served cocktails and hors d'oeuvres while they bid on a fabulous selection of silent auction items and listen to UNCW's own fresh talent of student jazz artists. After meeting the award recipients,
they enjoy a gourmet meal while the honorees are recognized.
The Awards Banquet honors three members of the UNCW family,
either alumni or citizens of the community. This year, the three honorees are:
UNCW Alumni of the Year
Mr. Herbert Fisher '53 & Mrs. Sylvia Fisher '50
UNCW Citizen of the Year
UNCW Young Alumnus of the Year
Mr. Bill Mayew '97, '98M
The event includes a silent auction to help raise money for student scholarships.
In 2007, this meaningful event generated more than $22,000,
allowing us to come closer to our goal of fully endowing the 16 student scholarships
that the UNCW Alumni Association awards each year.

There will be a VIP Champagne Reception for honorees and sponsors at 6 p.m.
This black tie event is open to the entire community and the cost is $100 per person.
