About the Cameron School of Business Alumni Chapter

Whether you graduated with a degree in Marketing or Finance, Management or Information Systems, Accounting or Economics, International Business or Operations Management, we all have one thing in common. That common bond is the shared experience of graduating from the Cameron School of Business and celebrating Seahawk spirit! The chapter strives to connect and involve alumni, students, professors, and friends with the Cameron School. Alumni picnics and networking socials have been a huge success in reconnecting graduates. This year is a unique year in that the Chapter is growing, changing, and rebuilding. Everyone who has graduated with a degree from the Cameron School of Business is considered a member of the CSB Alumni Chapter. To learn more or get involved, please contact Kim Gargiulo at gargiulok@uncw.edu.

Alumni Involvement Opportunities within Cameron School of Business

Business Week - Do you remember Business week from your days at Cameron? Do you have an interesting job, or advice to share on a particular industry? CSB provides two days of guest speakers who come to campus to talk about their careers and industries. Over 100 speakers from various businesses across the region take time to speak and answer questions. Apply to be an Alumni Speaker for Business Week- March 24, 2010.

Cameron Executive Network (CEN) - Do you have time to mentor a CSB student? Do you wish that there was someone to help coach you through your years at Cameron? CEN is a network of active and retired executives who are full time or part time residents of Southeastern North Carolina. They apply their experiences and talents to enhance the education and career development of CSB students. Since 2002, CSB has paired more than 160 experienced business executives with hundreds of students. Interested executives apply for membership and designate areas of interest that best utilize their talents and experience. The primary activities include mentoring and resume assistance. Other opportunities include mock interviews, guest speakers, class projects, etc. More detail about the CEN program is available on the CSB website.

Internships/Job Shadowing Do you love what you do? Would you like to assist students in getting their foot in the door? Does your company need some help with a special project, marketing a new service or just needing some new ideas? Internships are a great way to bring in talented students to contribute to the organization. Interns provide a cost effective way to increase your workforce, helping you accomplish the goals and mission of your organization.

Internships also provide an effective, low-risk evaluation and training ground for prospective full-time employees. As the intern prepares to graduate, you have an opportunity to hire a full-time, pre-screened employee who fits your needs and is already familiar with the organization.

Internships allow operations to continue running smoothly while full-time employees take time off, especially in the summer during the height of vacation season. Interns also have the time and skills to complete important but lower priority projects that might otherwise not be addressed.

Speaking Opportunities Alumni often make the best teachers, and we are frequently in need of guest speakers for classes and student groups.
