*Scholarship recipients for the 2008-09 school year have been selected and will be receiving letters in the mail by June 6.*


Scholarships

The UNCW Alumni Association annually awards scholarships funded by alumni contributions. These scholarships will be awarded to deserving UNCW full-time undergraduate and graduate students for the following academic year. Scholarship applications are available each fall and are accepted until mid-March each year.

The deadline for the 2008-09 school year has passed. The Alumni Relations office is modifying the application for the 2009-10 school year and will have it available by the end of the summer.

Alumni Scholarships

Criteria

All Scholarships

A certified transcript of the applicant’s high school and/or college record and two “Recommendation for Award” forms must be completed by a teacher, guidance counselor, professor or employer with whom the applicant has been associated in the past two years.

Merit Scholarships
Undergraduates must carry a minimum of 12 credit hours, Graduate hours may vary according to their program standing.  Applicant must have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale on all high school or college work

Jim Humphries
Must be arising Junior or Senior, must be carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours with a minimum 2.5 GPA and have demonstrated campus and community leadership.

 

Other Scholarships

In addition to the scholarships offered by the alumni association, several other opportunities for financial assistance are available to students.

The Watson School of Education Alumni Chapter offers an annual $500 scholarship to a rising junior or senior pursuing a degree in education.

The Communication Studies Alumni Chapter has endowed a $25,000 scholarship in honor of the late Dr. Betty Jo Welch. The scholarship will be presented annually to a student in the Communication Studies Department.

Our association strives to increase the number and value of our scholarship awards. Your support of our UNCW seahawk license plate program and designated gifts assist us in this effort.
