Wilmington
College alumni continue to meet at 11:30 a.m. the third
Wednesday of each month at Jackson’s Big Oak. Their
next gathering is set for April 16. Wilco alumni and friends
have raised $21,000 toward their endowed scholarship! They
are striving to reach $25K by June 30, 2003. Please send your
contribution to help them achieve this goal!
The Past Chairs’
Council will hold its quarterly meeting at 6 p.m. April
29 at Wise Alumni House. Elections will be held and a very
special guest will be present. Refreshments will be served.

The Communication
Studies Alumni Chapter is sponsoring Communication
Studies Day Friday, April 25. Alumni will return to campus
to speak in various classes, participate in a roundtable discussion
on job opportunities at noon in the Warwick Center Ballroom,
participate in a Communication Studies Job Fair, attend a
social for alumni and faculty at Lakeside Hall at 5 p.m. and
support the Senior Communication Studies Banquet. If you are
a communication studies alumnus and would like to participate

for the event will be sold by the Communication Studies Society
(the communications studies student organization) for $10.
The 10th Annual Cape
Fear Alumni Golf Classic is scheduled for Saturday,
April 26, at Echo Farms Golf and Country Club. The tournament
begins at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start. Individual entries
are $70 per person. All participants receive range balls,
cart/green fees, catered meal, refreshments and goody bag.
Prizes will be awarded for closet to the pin, longest drive
and our famous putting contest. Proceeds benefit alumni scholarships.

Alumni Chapter will have its inaugural luncheon at
3 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at the Forest Hills Country Club,
9 Belleview Ave., Bloomfield, N. J. The cost is $45 per person;

than 750 graduates living in the area this is a great opportunity
to join fellow alumni and celebrate the successes and growth
of UNCW.
The Watson School
of Education Alumni Chapter will hold its spring dinner
meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at Wise Alumni House. Dr.
Cathy Barlow, dean of the school of education, will update
alumni on the construction of the school’s building
and other news.
The Triangle Alumni
Chapter hosts its annual UNCW Alumni Night as the Durham
Bulls Sunday, May 4, when the Bulls take on the Syracuse Sky
Chiefs. The cost is only $18 per person; children 5 and under
get in free. The pregame cookout starts at 4 p.m. and the
game begins at 5 p.m. Included in the cost is a game ticket,
meal, refreshments, door prizes and a guaranteed fun time!
The deadline for reservations is Monday, April 28.
The African American
Graduates Association (AAGA) will sponsor Senior Sankofa
for graduating African American seniors at 1 p.m. Friday,
May 16, at Wise Alumni House. In the Akan languages of West
Africa sankofa means “wisdom in learning from the past
to build for the future” and symbolizes an African rite
of passage. Its concept has been adopted to represent the
unity among students of African descent; a Senior Sankofa
gift is presented by AAGA to each student. The ceremony marks
the tradition of students of color graduating from their lives
at UNCW to their new careers.
Nurses Week 2003 is scheduled for May 5-9.
The School of Nursing Alumni Chapter
will participate in activities during the week and invite
all nursing alumni to join in.
