The
Charleston
Alumni Chapter had its first meeting
June 30 at T-Bonz Restaurant in Charleston. Nine alumni and
two guests attended the gathering. The chapter is planning
meetings for the second Monday of each month to be held in
diiferent areas of the city. The next meeting is Aug. 11 in
the West Ashley area. For more information contact Wayne Tharp

The Cameron
School of Business Chapter will meet
at 9 a.m. July 19 at Wise Alumni House. All Cameron School
graduates are invited to attend. The chapter is also sponsoring
its annual Picnic in the Park Aug. 14 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
at Hugh MacRae Park, Shelter No.4. Hot dogs, hamburgers, fried
chicken and barbecue will be served with your favorite beverages.
You will also be able to enjoy music by Captain Cook and the
Coconutz, a part of the Sounds of Summer Concert Series. There
is no charge. Please RSVP with the Alumni Office by Aug. 11.

The Charlotte
Chapter will hold its next “after
hours” event 5:30 to 7 p.m. July 17 at Aquavina in Uptown
Charlotte in the Radcliffe Building with live jazz and complimentary
shrimp appetizers. The chapter is also sponsoring an ice cream
social for new UNCW freshmen from the Charlotte area 2 to
4 p.m. Aug. 3. the Gates at Quail Hollow Clubhouse, Park Road

The Past
Chairs’ Council will meet at
6 p.m. July 29 at Wise Alumni House. The guest speaker will
be Dr. Rosemary DePaolo, UNCW’s new chancellor. The
council will discuss and select the J. Marshall Crews Distinguished
Faculty Award recipient for 2003-2004. All past board chairmen

The Triangle Alumni
Chapter is sponsoring a canoe trip on the Cape Fear
River from Lillington to Erwin on Sept. 13. The trip is $25
dollars for Triangle alumni and includes lunch and an approximately

The Communication
Studies Chapter invites all communication studies alumni
and their families to the first Department of Communication
Studies family picnic at Hugh MacRae Park, Shelter No. 5,
2 to 6 p.m Sept. 20 where they can join join faculty, staff
and their families for a fun afternoon in the park. The cost
is $5 for 11-year-olds and up and $2.50 for 10-year-olds and

The African American
Graduate Association (AAGA) will meet at 11:45 a.m.
July 19 at the Ryan’s Steakhouse, Crossroad Plaza, Cary.
African American alumni interested in serving on the AAGA
leadership board are invited to attend. AAGA is also supporting
UNCW’s freshmen Move-In Aug. 16 and encourages all African-American
