The UNCW men’s basketball team has made it to the NCAA Tournament and
will play the George Washington Colonials at 7:10 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at
Greensboro Coliseum. The Seahawks earned the No. 9 seed in the Atlanta Bracket,
the highest ever by a UNCW squad and the highest by a Colonial Athletic Association
team since Navy was the eighth seed in 1987. UNCW has an all-time record of

Crew Club Alumni

The Cape Fear Alumni Chapter will hold its eighth annual Grand Slam Jam baseball pregame tailgate at 6 p.m. Friday, May 5 at Brooks Field. SCHOOL OF NURSING GRADS HAVE 100
Percent PASSING RATE
The UNCW School of Nursing announced a passing rate
of 100 percent for all nurse practitioner students taking the American Nurses
Credentialing Center Family Nurse Practitioner Certification Exam. The graduates

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT ISSUES
ARE CONFERENCE FOCUS
UNCW, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration,
College of Charleston, Clean Water Management Trust Fund and the Nature Conservancy
are hosting a conference March 19-21 at the Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort, Wrightsville
Beach, to identify key technical issues and regional priorities, define the
geographic scope and scale of these priority issues and examine a suite of ecological

From Phoenix to Chicago to New York, UNCW’s latest
entry into the NCAA basketball field of 65 is bringing even more exposure to
a program and university that has grown in size and stature in recent years.
Coach Brad Brownell has conducted nearly 50 interviews since last week’s
impressive title run in Richmond and senior playmaker John Goldsberry is featured

SEAHAWKS REACH FINAL FOUR IN CLASSROOM
The first ball has yet to be tossed into the air for
this week’s NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, but local favorite
UNCW has already reached the Final Four. The No. 9-seeded Seahawks, who meet
No. 8 George Washington Thursday night at the Greensboro Coliseum, are joined
by Villanova, Bucknell and Illinois in the compilation released March 14 by

BROWNELL NAMED TOP COACH
UNCW’S Brad Brownell added yet another honor
to his growing collection after leading the streaking Seahawks to the 2006 CAA
Men’s Basketball Championship and NCAA Tournament berth. He was named
FoxSports.com Mid-Major Coach of the
Year, joining Gonzaga’s Adam Morrison and Eastern Washington’s Rodney
Stuckey on the list of major award winners. Brownell was previously voted CAA
Coach of the Year by the league’s coaches and media and CAA Coach of the

DIAMOND HAWKS TAKE ON RIVAL PIRATES
WEDNESDAY
UNCW wraps up a 10-game home stand Wednesday, March
15, with a 7 p.m. tilt against long-time rival East Carolina. The Pirates won
the first of three games this season with the Seahawks by an 11-2 count at the
Keith LeClair Classic in late February. Seahawk junior Andrew Morgan will get
the starting nod tonight on the mound while ECU counters with senior Brody Taylor.

Senior Michelle Jarman fired a final round 71 to claim the
