UNCW ALUMNI GIVE $2 MILLION TO SUPPORT NEW
STUDENT CENTER
UNCW on Tuesday named the new student center
in honor of alumni Herbert and Sylvia Fisher, whose ties to their alma mater
extend back more than 50 years to the early days of Wilmington College. The
Fishers, lifelong Wilmington residents, have established a $2 million endowed
fund to maintain the student center and enhance its programs. Their contribution
to name the Herbert and Sylvia Fisher Student Center is the largest outright
gift from individual donors in UNCW history. http://appserv02.uncw.edu/news/article.asp?ID=1936

SUMMER CAMPS – http://www.uncw.edu/summercamps - Looking for exciting, confidence-building educational experiences for your children? UNCW has a broad range of excellent programs available. Choose camps in math and science, marine science, creative writing, music, theatre, business, and athletics, including baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, swimming and volleyball.
MAKE TIME FOR YOUR ALMA MATER – UNCW needs your support to make sure today’s students have the same opportunities you experienced as a student at UNCW. The university receives 35 percent of its budget from state appropriations. For the remainder, UNCW depends on other sources, including donations from alumni like you. When you contribute to UNCW, you provide much more than financial assistance. Your gift – no matter the amount – shows you care about what happens at your alma mater. Corporations and foundations look at alumni giving rates when evaluating grant requests, and U.S.News and World Report factors the percentage into its statistical formula when ranking universities. This fiscal year, UNCW hopes to set a new standard for participation by achieving a 13 percent alumni giving rate. We are very close to reaching the goal and we need your help to get there. Please consider supporting a program or an area that touches your heart and reminds you of the wonderful experiences you had as a student. No time like the present. Gifts received before June 30, 2006, will count toward the university’s alumni giving rate for fiscal year 2005-06. Any gift you make will make a real difference for UNCW. To contribute, please call 910.962.3751 or 866.468.6291 or download a gift form http://www.uncw.edu/uniadv.
