communication studies day
Communication studies alumni are invited to participate in Communication Studies Day 2007 on Friday, March 23. Alumni panel presentations will be at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Leutze Hall television studio, room 125. A social gathering for alumni, students, faculty and friends will be from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Tiki Lounge at Wilson's Restaurant off New Centre Drive. RSVP by Friday, March 16 to David Bollinger or Frank Trimble.

Alumni GolfAlumni Association 14th Annual Golf Tournament
It's time again for the annual Golf Classic Thursday, April 26 at Magnolia Greens. You are invited to be a sponsor of this fun event. Proceeds will be used to support the Gerald Shinn Scholarship. Participants have a chance to win a 2007 Hummer from Rippy Autopark. Lunch will be provided by Chick-fil-A. Sign up to be a sponsor or to register your alumni team.

Alumni Association Scholarships
The UNCW Alumni Association scholarships, funded by alumni contributions, are awarded to deserving full-time UNCW undergraduate and graduate students. The scholarship application deadline for the 2007-08 school year is March 16, 2007.  You can help support student scholarships.

Volunteers Needed for Admission Visitation Day
Alumni are invited to meet and mingle with incoming students and their families during the annual Spring Visit Day Saturday, March 31. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. in Trask Coliseum. For more information contact the UNCW Office of Admissions at 910.962.3243.

CHAPTER news
The Wilmington College Alumni Chapter meets the third Wednesday of every month at Jackson's Big Oak BBQ.

There will be an Orlando, Fla., alumni networking social at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 15 at Season's 52 Fresh Grill. For more information or RSVP, contact North Florida Chapter leader, Kevin Snyder ’99.

Fort Lauderdale alumni will gather for a happy hour networking social at 6 p.m. Friday, March 16 at the Tarpon Bend.  To RSVP, contact South Florida Chapter leader, Rich Dzicek ’89.

Grand Slam Jam
The ninth annual Grand Slam Jam will be held Friday, May 4 at  Brooks Field when the Seahawks take on Northeastern University.  Pregame cookout begins at 5 p.m., and the baseball game starts at 7 p.m.  Please visit www.uncwalumnitickets.com to purchase your tickets today!

Durham BullsDurham Bulls Baseball Game
The annual Durham Bulls Baseball Game will be hosted by the Triangle Alumni Chapter on Wednesday, June 6  at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.  Alumni and friends will gather at the PIC Party Deck for a cookout including beverages as they watch the Durham Bulls take on the Indianapolis Indians at 7 p.m. Tickets for “active” alumni association members are $19. Tickets for all others are $27.

SeahawkS SOAR Offers Access to College for 500 Students
A new program unveiled Monday, March 12, Seahawks SOAR will provide 100 percent of the financial aid needed for four years for 500 students whose families' income falls within a range of up to one and a half times the poverty level as defined by the federal government. In guaranteeing to meet the financial aid need for these 500 students, UNCW is joining a growing national trend. More

Swimmers win 6th CAA titleSeahawk Men Continue Dynasty With Sixth Title
UNC Wilmington rallied to win its sixth straight Colonial Athletic Association men’s swimming and diving title and the women finished second behind champion William & Mary. More

Seahawks Rally In Ninth But Come Up Short
Fifteenth-ranked Coastal Carolina overcame an early deficit and held off a late charge by the Seahawks to defeat UNC Wilmington 7-3 in college baseball action Tuesday, March 13 at Brooks Field. More

Cyclones Blow Past Lady Seahawk Netters, 5-2
The Iowa State women's tennis team opened its spring trip on a winning note Tuesday, March 13 winning the doubles point and taking four singles matches for a 5-2 victory over host UNC Wilmington in the first-ever meeting between the two schools. More

THREE TEAMS RETURN TO ACTION
The softball team is participating in the Best Western Catamount Classic. The Seahawks will begin the tournament against host Western Carolina (8-14) at 5 p.m. Friday, March 16 and then conclude bracket play with games against Radford (17-13) and Detroit Mercy (4-6) on Saturday, March 17. The women's golf team continues the spring portion of its schedule when it competes in the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic hosted by Louisiana State in Baton Rouge, La. Fresh off an impressive showing at the Coastal Carolina Invitational, the track and field team returns to the oval Friday, March 16 when 10 teams, including Division I foes Buffalo, Howard and North Florida, convene at the Harold Greene Track and Field Complex for the Seahawk Invitational beginning at 2 p.m.
