UNCW mourns VTSpotlight Readers Respond
to "UNCW Mourns the Hokies"
In the days following the tragic events at Virginia Tech, UNCW sent Seahawk Spotlight readers information about the university’s response. Many of you replied with thoughtful messages, offers of assistance and safety suggestions. Thank you, so very much, for your responses. Your ideas have been shared with Chancellor DePaolo and other administrators. A few voiced a concern we all share: could that situation happen at UNCW? Unfortunately, despite our best security efforts, there is no guarantee that any university community is immune from this kind of unpredictable violence. Please know that UNCW consistently researches and implements initiatives to enhance campus safety. We greatly appreciate your concern and your support for the safety of our students, faculty and staff. Click HERE to view a multi-media presentation showing our students' response on campus.

ALUMNI PARTICIPATION VITAL – Your gifts to the alumni association, a department, a scholarship or other worthy programs are about much more than the money. Your support is about your participation in the life of your alma mater. Your gift – whether $1 or $1,000 or more – shows you care about what happens at UNCW. Corporations and foundations look at alumni giving percentages when evaluating grant requests, and U.S.News and World Report factors the percentage into its statistical formula when ranking universities. Your contribution will make a difference at UNCW. Gifts received before June 30, 2007, will count toward the university’s goal for fiscal year 2006-07. To make a gift or fulfill your pledge, please call 910.962.3751 or 866.468.6291 or download a gift form.
