Jere Brantner Knight
California State University Monterey Bay

I am currently finishing a Master’s Degree at California State University Monterey Bay (CSUMB). My research is focused on how seafloor topography influences automated acoustic telemetry, and developing predictive GIS models, from high resolution bathymetry maps, to improve design and interpretation of telemetry data. I received my Bachelor’s degree from CSUMB in 2001 in Earth Systems Science and Policy. While pursuing my undergraduate education I became involved in the Seafloor Mapping Lab where I gained experience using both multibeam and sidescan sonar. After graduation I spent five years as a contractor travelling the World mapping bodies of water.

I began SCUBA diving in 2000 after a friend gave me his old equipment. I quickly pursued additional certifications including research diving. Through the university I was able to get involved in underwater research projects. I have dived extensively in the Monterey area and even some in the Puget Sound. I am very excited to experience both warm water and saturation diving.
