Hurricane Floyd Cancels September 1999 Mission

Our next Aquarius mission was scheduled to start September 13, 1999. However, the threat of Hurricane Floyd required us to cancel the September 1999 Mission. September 13, we went offshore to secure Aquarius and the work site. The Sebens mission will be rescheduled to next year. A full storm report will be filed in a day or two, including a more detailed listing of what we do to secure our systems in advance of storms. We take a conservative approach to avoid a situation where we have scientists saturated in Aquarius with a storm bearing down on the site. This conservative approach also helps ensure that we are around after storms to start operations again. We appreciate your interest in our site, and our program.
