Mark Hulsbeck

Mark was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, but moved to Florida at the age of five. He was raised in Venice and Orlando, Florida. It was in Venice, where he learned to swim and collect fossil sharks teeth, that he gained his fascination with the ocean.

Mark served for five years as a Navy helicopter Rescue Aircrewman. After his enlistment, he attended the University of South Florida where he received a B.A. in Geology. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a NOAA Corps Officer. Mark served on numerous NOAA research vessels and laboratories. He traveled the world's oceans extensively. Duties included Navigation, Operations, and Diving Officer. He has completed all course work towards a M.S. degree in Coastal Zone Management at Nova Southeastern University. Mark is a PADI Diving Instructor, Divers Alert Network Instructor, and a Dive Medical Technician. Mark thoroughly enjoyed a three day staff training mission earlier this year. This will be his first 10 day science mission. He is excited about the opportunity and hopes to complete training towards becoming a Habitat Technician.
