From her hometown of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, in the center of the Canadian
prairies, Hannah somehow developed an interest in marine biology. After
completing undergraduate studies at the University of Saskatchewan, she
participated in Northeastern University's East/West Marine Biology Program
- as a student and then working for the program as a teaching assistant
and Dive Master in Friday Harbor, Washington, and Program Coordinator
for the Jamaican quarter in Discovery Bay. She then moved to Tarzana,
California and earned a Master's Degree in biology at California State
University, Northridge, for a project investigating interactions between
morphology, water flow and photosynthesis of marine algae at the Wrigley
Institute of Marine Science at Santa Catalina Island. Hannah is currently
studying biomechanics in the Koehl Lab in the Department of Integrative
Biology at the University of California at Berkeley.
