Journal 4- Michael J. Florant: Day 3 – June 14, 2000

Things are going really well so far. The scientist's are getting a lot of work done. Yesterday, they set up their acoustic doppler velicometer (a current meter that measures water flow at fine scales and in multiple dimensions) to mearsure current flow. The aquanauts are also using "AGA" masks with underwater communication to help set up their equipment on the reef, and to coordinate measurements made on the reef with computers back inside Aquarius.

Mike Smith and I have been busy doing routine maintenance around the outside of Aquarius. All our electrical cables and plumbing lines have to be cleaned regularly to prevent an overabundance of marine growth. Since the habitat is 42 feet long, it's a pretty big job. Water clarity has been good lately, so the diving has been fun too.

Till next time...
