Dr. Dave Williams

Dafydd (Dave) Rhys Williams, MD FCFP FRCP (C) was born May 16, 1954, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He is married to Cathy Fraser of Pointe-Claire, Quebec. They have a son, Evan, and a daughter, Olivia. Dr. Williams enjoys flying, scuba diving, hiking, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, downhill and cross-country skiing.

Dr. Williams was appointed the position of Director, Space and Life Sciences at the NASA Johnson Space Center in July 1998 and has held that position to date. He has a Master's Degree in Physiology and a Doctorate in Medicine from McGill University in Montreal. In 1993, he was appointed Manager of the Missions and Space Medicine Group within the Canadian Agency's Astronaut Program. Later, Dr. Williams was selected to join the 1995 class of NASA astronaut candidates as a mission specialist. He served as Mission Specialist 3 on STS-90 Neurolab (April 17 to May 3, 1998).
