This is our last full day of diving and we decided to go out in style. We entered the water at 6:15 AM, and watched the reef wake up shortly thereafter. We saw the night fish depart and the day fish emerge. Especially cool was the parrotfish in its mucus cocoon and the millions of bait fish swimming synchronously as the larger predatory fish decided when and where to strike. We hoped for 9 hours of dive time today, but unfortunately only managed 8.5 because I had to get out of the water twice to talk live to my freshman biology classes on their first day of classes via a video conferencing link. Very cool technology!!!! |
