I am a family practice physician currently doing a hyperbaric medicine fellowship at Duke University. It is a great opportunity to be able to work with some of the greatest minds in hyperbaric/dive medicine. I started diving when I was 16 years old, which is an embarrassing long time ago. I received my undergrad degree at Penn State University. Later I got my Masters in Public Health (MPH) at the University of Hawaii. I started medical school next, also at the University of Hawaii. By the end of medical school I managed to marry a wonderful woman and had two terrific boys Steve and Ben. We lived in Colorado for a few years but I missed the sea so we moved to SE Alaska where we had the real "Northern Exposure" experience living on an isolated island for three years. It was here that my interest in dive/hyperbaric medicine really took off as we had a large number of dive harvesters living on the island. Although temporarily landlocked in Durham, I try to make myself available for various dive projects and was able to briefly volunteer last year for the Monitor mission off the coast of North Carolina and this year for an Aquarius mission.
