Journal 25 - Mike Smith:
Mission Day 6: Saturday, July 20, 2002 It's about 0445 and we're up early for a dawn dive. The idea is to get out into the water and see what kind of creatures are roaming around. It will also be nice to see the sun come up from underwater. Spirits are high for the new experience and as always, breakfast starts with jokes about the freeze-dried food (strawberries don't rehydrate well). Mornings are becoming my favorite time of the mission. Instead of the usual fend for yourself breakfast that is usually the case on missions, we all try to do something to get the breakfast ready for everyone. Danny is doing a great job as the coffee guru and he made breakfast burritos for all of us yesterday. It's hard to wake up grumpy with these guys. I'm sure we'll all have some stories after this early dive. More later. Smitty |
