William Ojwang I am a Kenyan citizen by birth. My educational background includes a Masters Degree from the Boston University Marine Program (BUMP). I am currently pursuing my doctoral studies at the same institution. My present research focus addresses the impacts of biodiversity loss on ecological food webs, using the open waters of Lake Victoria, East Africa, as a model. On this Aquarius mission I will provide surface support related to tagging fish. This includes working with a local fisherman to catch and tag fish for the acoustic tracking studies. Apart from my current status as student, I am a research scientist with the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute, an Institution mandated by the Kenyan government to carry out marine and freshwater research in all Kenyan water bodies. My areas of interest for the last 10 years at the Institution include the general areas of marine biology, such as trophic dynamics, behavioral ecology, fish population genetics and fish taxonomy and systematics. |
