Kelly: Day 3: Wednesday, September 25, 2002
Following my last report last evening, we were informed that tropical storm Lily would cause us to have to begin decompression procedures today and a resultant further shortened mission. The crew was obviously disappointed, however they took it well and commenced with planning what was intended to be our last dive. We awoke early today, at approximately 5:30 AM to wake up music characteristic of the Space Shuttle Program. The first dive of today was a dawn dive, departing about 30 minutes before sunrise. This dive was to expose us to the changing conditions when transitioning from dark to light, but also allowed us a chance to disassemble the water lab construction task built on a previous dive. In the afternoon we conducted another coral science dive and lots great
data for Dr. Miller's use. Also we were informed that tropical storm Lily
had slowed this morning so we will be able to spend another day in |
