His present position is Diving Safety Officer and he is in charge of the scientific diving program. This job has provided him the opportunity to log thousands of dives in support of scientific research, with many hundreds of dives in Florida and throughout the Caribbean. He has been a certified diver since 1976, an employee of VIMS/SMS since 1977, a PADI diving instructor since 1979, and the Institute's Diving Safety Officer since 1984. This is his second involvement with an Aquarius mission, having been an Aquanaut in 1995. His hobbies include recreational diving in general, cave diving in particular, fishing at every opportunity, and working on his tractors when necessary. He resides in Yorktown VA and has a vacation home in North Florida cave country. |
