Journal 3 - Jim Buckley: Mission Day 2: Tuesday, November 12, 2002
The morning was a typical day two morning, everyone slept late and were a little sluggish getting out the door. Having gone over the dive plans and with the divers out to their work sites, it's now my turn to go to work outside. Three hours is a good start for my in water time today, cleaning valves and other equipment on the habitat is standard procedure for the techs inside. While I'm out on hooka (this is an umbilical that tethers me back to the habitat and supplies me with air), Byron has the pleasure of dive-mastering the aquanauts and myself. Everyone outside AQUARIUS has a two hour check in time, and keeping track of who and where all the divers are can be busy at times. Daily checklists on all systems have to be completed, and potting transfers from the surface crew can fill the hours up rather quickly.

Mark, Beth, Jan and Jo had a very good day today, each had 6-7 hours in the water column, setting up pumps and heaters, as well as taking oxygen, temperature and PH balance readings. Tomorrow will bring another full day of work for both science and operations.
