Mark
E. Ward Mark is a communications specialist with a passion for promoting undersea research and education programs. Early career pursuits in film and video production lead Mark to create his own company, Infotainment Inc. in 1987 and to provide more strategic communications work for government and corporate clients. In the late 1980s a magazine assignment to visit Key Largo, FL and write about the undersea hotel, Jules' Undersea Lodge, introduced Mark into the world of undersea living. From that point on he was hooked. Since early 2000 Mark has been contracted by NURC/UNCW to assist with partnership development, public affairs, strategic communications and outreach efforts for the Aquarius Undersea Laboratory. In his three years with the program he has helped develop partnerships with NASA and the U.S. Navy, written press releases about dozens of Aquarius missions, produced an extensive program brochure, shot hundreds of still images and taken hours of video footage. He also set-up several live interactive broadcasts linking Aquarius aquanauts with students at science centers and museums across the country. Although he has visited Aquarius many times, this mission marks his first overnight experience. While on the bottom, Mark will help set-up and coordinate a live broadcast linking Aquarius with students at the Orlando Science Center and Fort Lauderdale Museum of Discovery and Science. He will also spend time capturing still and video images for future use in the promotion of Aquarius. Mark currently lives in Orlando with his beautiful wife Regina.
