Mission Objectives:

To furnish representatives of the scientific, military, and commercial diving communities an opportunity to participate in underwater diving activities in a setting intended to facilitate discussion and reach conclusions that will lead to the development of a more cooperative and supporting relationship between and among the three communities.

The participants were those individuals best considered able to represent their respective communities; each of whom have a diving life experience with a high degree of commonality with the other participants.

Some of the specific goals and objectives considered were:

· To develop and expand upon an existing program between the United States Navy and the Association of Diving Contractors International whereby active duty military personnel trained at U.S. Navy diving facilities could be issued an ADC Commercial Diving Certification Card which could then be "upgraded" as the individual progressed from an "Entry-Level" graduate of training up to a Diving Supervisor class in air, mixed-gas, or saturation modes of diving.
· To determine ways in which the respective communities might better interface with each other to exchange advice and assistance on new procedures, equipment, technologies, or other factors that lead to enhanced safety of diving operations and to - where appropriate - achieve a higher degree of commonality.
· To establish a continued line of communication amongst the participants to facilitate intended goals and objectives.
