Journal 2 - Jim Buckley Day 2: Sunday, December 7, 2003

It’s very early and I’m up and about doing some of the daily checklist. I can’t finish until the rest of the crew start to stir and realize their living underwater. What a feeling that is on the first morning, waking up in Aquarius.

Getting up early gives me so much more time to enjoy the surroundings. It gives me time to sit and read the paper (internet), have a cup of coffee, stare out the view port and watch the marine life. Bar Jack and Yellowtail are the most abundant this morning. Of course we have the Barracuda, Groupers and Schoolmasters all around, also.

It’s evening already. Where did the day go? The Aquanauts got out a little later than we expected. They still made the best of their work day. Mark did six hours out on Hookah, and Craig, Jim and Chris did the deep dives today. They are just coming in off the afternoon dive; 110fsw for 1 hour and 45 minutes. I got out for a few hours; just enough to remind myself why I do this type of work.

Marine life is good. Hello Beth, Jo and Janet. You too Mark.
