Born and raised in Indiana, I don't recall the idea of my being a 'diver' ever crossing my mind. I enjoyed programs about the oceans and diving, but opportunities took me in many other directions, such as herb gardening, newspaper layout, stained glass, and Director of a county pre-natal clinic, along with marriage and raising two children. I thank all my family for giving me the confidence to pursue so many different fields and I feel well rounded for the broad range of skills I've gathered in the process.
All of my career experiences were terrestrial based, of course . Then one day my husband, Terry, convinced me to take scuba lessons with he and our two children. Although leery at first, I was soon hooked. Eventually, Terry and I became Scuba Instructors and had the opportunity to manage a Caribbean based, marine biology school. I joined the NURC program in 1994, managing the office while assisting with training and mission coordination. I left NURC after five and a half years, to go back to Indiana, where I built on my computer skills. Three years passed, and I came back in Key Largo once again. This time, I am honored to be a part of the Aquarius team.
This is my second full mission and I'm very excited about the diversity and special activities involved in this project.
