Glen Rubin, HTC
Navy’s Experimental Diving Unit
Panama City, FL

I was born in Elyria, Ohio. I spent my years growing up on, in, or under the Great Lakes sailing swimming, and diving. My parents were both aquatically enthusiastic and naturally so were us seven kids. We all swam, and sailed competitively. At 12 years old I received my YMCA SCUBA certification — my mother was an instructor. In early 1980 I attended a slide presentation at a local dive club and saw Navy salvage divers at work recovering pieces of an early steamship in Lake Superior for the Smithsonian Institute. From that moment, I knew what I was going to do with my life. Later that year I joined the Navy with a goal.

I have many wonderful experiences over the past 25 years as a Navy Diver. Ship & submarine repair, sub rescue, salvage, torpedo/mine recovery, EOD and SPECWAR assignments, Dive School instructor and my final tour is at the Navy Experimental Diving Unit where I am the Testing and Evaluation Division Officer. My wife Jodi and I live in Panama City, Fl where we I plan to stay forever and raise our two sons: Isaac-13 — Wade 9.
