Alex Moore is an Engineer with NASA at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. He was born in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Lake Highlands High School in 1992. He attended Texas A&M University and graduated with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering in 1997. He currently lives in Pearland, Texas and is married to his beautiful wife, Melissa. He is a certified NAUI diver. He is a Christian. His hobbies include playing soccer, racing cars, riding dirtbike motorcycles, woodworking, running, playing basketball, playing with his two dogs and of course diving.
After graduating from Texas A&M he worked for United Space Alliance for 7 years before being hired as a NASA federal employee in 2004. He has been working in the Mission Operations Directorate for 9 years supporting NASA/MIR, Space Shuttle and the International Space Station operations as a flight controller in charge of crew planning and scheduling. Over the years he has held several leadership positions including working in Russia as the Houston Support Group Planner during the early stages of ISS, Assistant Lead Operations Planner for Increment 6, Lead Operations Planner for Increment 10 and the primary liaison with the European Space Agency for the planning group. Recently, he has been involved in the NEEMO project that not only is a natural progression of preparing for the next steps in exploration operations to the moon and Mars, but also is a chance to explore the vast and wondrous world that exists under the surface of the water.
