Empty Bowls of Wilmington (EBW) is a local group of volunteers devoted to bringing awareness of world hunger to the public.

Eligibility
Open to all media free-standing or wall-mounted, excluding audio/video. All work must have been completed in the past two years. Work must be exhibition-ready. 2D and 3D work must not exceed UPS shipping limits.

Entry Requirements
Artist may submit digital images of up to three entries. If necessary, one detail view per entry may be submitted, for a total of no more than 6 images. Two CDs must be submitted, one clearly labeled, with artist name, email, title of work, dimensions of work and a number (1-3) for each work. This must be accompanied with a CD of the same images labeled with the dimensions of works only. Format must be JPEG, 6"x9", 72 DPI. The CDs will not be returned to the artist. EBW reserves to right to refuse an entry which has been significantly misrepresented by its digital image if the juror finds the work unacceptable for any reason.

Entry Fee
A non-refundable fee of $20.00, payable to Good Shepherd Center, must accompany entry form and CDs.

Jurying
Work will be selected for the exhibition by the juror on the basis of the digital images. Notification by email only.

Shipment of Work

Shipped work must arrive at UNCW between September 20 and 25. Artist is responsible for paying shipping cost via UPS to and from UNCW, and for checking with UPS regarding insurance and correct packing requirements. Reusable packing materials will be retained by UNCW for return shipping. EBW and UNCW will not be responsible for damage due to incorrect packing materials or insufficient container when returning artwork as it was originally shipped. All artwork will be returned COD via UPS unless another carrier has been pre-paid (please be sure that the carrier will pick up at Cultural Arts Building Gallery at UNCW). Work will be returned to the street address listed on the form. UPS will not deliver to a P.O. Box.

Liability And Responsibility
EBW and the Gallery at CAB UNCW will take every precaution in handling accepted artwork, which will be insured while at The Gallery at UNCW. UNCW and EBW assume no responsibility after the last pick up date. In the event of theft or damage UNCW will only cover 60% of the sale price, which is what the artist would receive if the work sold, or the insurance value if the the work is not for sale. EBW must be notified of claims within two weeks of the shipment or pick-up date. Submission of work and signature on the entry form shall constitute on agreement on the part of the artist to the conditions set forth in this prospectus. The acceptance of an entry in the exhibition shall further include permission to photograph work or download the image for publicity.

Sales

A commission of 40% will be retained by EBW on all sales. A sale price or not for sale (NFS) value
must be indicated for all work. Art work NFS should have a value exclusive of commission.

Juror, Virginia Scotchie
Virginia Scotchie is a ceramic artist and area head of the ceramics at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina. She holds a B.F.A. in ceramics from UNC-Chapel Hill and in 1985 completed her Master of Fine Arts at Alfred University in New York.

Virginia exhibits her work extensively throughout the United States and abroad, and has received numerous awards including the Sydney Meyer Fund International Ceramics Premiere Award from the Shepparton Museum in Victoria, Australia. She has lectured internationally on her work and has been an Artist in Residence in Taiwan, Italy, Australia, and the Netherlands. Her clay forms reside in many public and private collections and reviews about her work appear in prestigious ceramic publications. For more information go to virginiascotchie.com.
