UNCW Artist Recital Series to Present Chamber Concert

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- The leading American violinist Curtis Macomber and pianist Barry David Salwen of the UNCW music faculty will present a chamber recital on at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 27, as part of the 2000 UNCW Artist Recital Series. It will take place at Kenan Auditorium on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. There will be a pre-concert talk at 2 p.m. The program includes works of Beethoven, Kreisler, Sessions, and Franck.

Curtis Macomber is recognized as one of the most versatile soloists and chamber musicians before the public today. He has appeared in recital at numerous major concert halls such as Alice Tully Hall and the Kennedy Center. He was the first violinist of the award-winning New World String Quartet, which made 14 CD recordings and appeared on radio and television many times. He teaches chamber music at the Juilliard School and violin at the Manhattan School of Music.

Barry David Salwen has been on the UNCW music faculty since 1992. He is an international concert pianist who performs regularly in the U.S. and abroad. He is heard on 9 CD recordings and is the first artist to record all the music of Roger Sessions for the piano.
