APRIL IS UNCW LEADERSHIP RECOGNITION MONTH
Monday, April 03, 2000
Wilmington, NC -- Recognizing exemplary UNCW student leaders,
the second annual Leadership Month will highlight and celebrate
student leadership from across the campus. This year's theme, Faces
of Leadership, captures the spirit of the many events designed to
honor UNCW's outstanding student leaders.
"There are a lot of people doing wonderful things on campus, who
don't often get recognized for it," said Julie Owen, assistant
director of Leadership and Volunteer Programs. "(Leadership Month)
is a way to stop and recognize them and show just how many students
are involved and making an impact."
Kicking off this year's activities is educational lecturer Will
Keim, who will speak at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, in the Warwick
Center Ballroom. The Education of Character lecture will address
issues concerning leadership and ethical responsibility and is
presented by the Office of the Dean of Students. Other event
highlights include the Student Leader Photograph, a group picture
of student leaders, at 4 p.m., Thursday, April 13, on the Campus
Commons and the Student Leader Reception, at 6 p.m., Wednesday,
April 26, in the Warwick Center Ballroom, which will recognize more
than 300 student leaders from various organizations and
departments.
