NHRMC Projects - New Hanover Health Network CEO Dr. Bill Atkinson
discusses the Zimmer Cancer Center, a new oncology facility at New
Hanover Regional Medical Center, the Emergency Center which now
serves 75,000 people each year, and the joint commission survey to
be conducted at Pender Memorial Hospital, Burgaw.
Sports Corner--Joe Browning is joined by Ralph Gevinson, founder of
the Dugout Club, the Seahawk baseball booster club. The membership
fee of $100 entitles a member to two season tickets, an embroidered

Wilmington Police Department - Officer Bernard Moses is accompanied
by Marietta Braye and Horace Alston, second year DARE program
participants/from Blount School. Officer Moses said the DARE
program will be extended into the high schools.
Faculty Focus - Dr. Alina Szmart, UNCW professor of biological
sciences and an expert on coral reefs, describes various types of
coral skeletons and explains their shape and size.
Money Talks--Louis H. Rogers of the Small Business and Technology
Development Center and Sequoia Debnam from East Coast Mortgage
discuss personal finance issues.
Animal Rescue - Jeannine Friday of SOAR (Southport and Oak Island
Animal Rescue), Mary Ann Bala of Animal Inn in Supply and Nancy
Janowitz of Paws Place show off four dogs that are available for
adoption. They also discuss their animal rescue programs and the
animals they help.
Tastefully Yours - Normandie Bakery owner Philippe Blondel,
displays some of his creations including spinach, almond, cinnamon
and plain croissants, pecan and cheese danish, chocolate, raspberry
and key lime tarts, 10-grain French bread (long and round) and
Italian bread.
Literacy - Wally Amos, founder of Famous Amos Cookies, discusseshis
business career and his interest in adult literacy.
Kaleidoscope----Mimi Cunningham discusses the death of UNCW Trustee
Jay Robinson on April 24.; the award from Duck Head to UNCW
communication major Josh Paul, who was recently selected as the
Duck Head Entrepreneur of the Month earning him $2,000 in cash and
a $500 Duck Head clothing award and the recent Barbados
Symposium.
