THE SEARCH FOR EXTRATERRESTRIAL LIFE SUBJECT OF LECTURE AT UNCW

Wilmington, N.C. - Robert T. Rood, professor of astronomy at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, will deliver two lectures to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He will present "Searching for Unicorns and Extraterrestrial Civilizations" at 8 p.m., Thursday, April 6, in King Hall Auditorium. In this lecture, Rood will discuss the possible existence of extraterrestrial life.



In addition, Rood will lecture on "The Abundance of the Lightest Elements: 'Observing' the Universe at an Age of a Few Minutes" at 2 p.m., Friday, April 7, in Deloach Hall, Room 212.



Rood will discuss certain changes in atoms that have taken place as the universe has expanded.



Rood received his B.S. from North Carolina State University and his Ph.D. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
