By Will Blount, PR InternWILMINGTON--Katrin Hull, a 1999 UNCW accounting graduate and 2000 master's degree recipient in the Cameron School of Business, recently earned the Silver Medal for scoring the second highest on the CPA exam in the state of North Carolina. Of the 1,754 people who took the exam statewide, 360 passed. In addition, Hull's score was among the top 120 in the nation.
Ms. Hull, a native of Walkersville, Md., felt she had passed a couple parts of the four-section test. A score of 75 or better was needed to pass a section; Hull passed all four sections, scoring in the 90's in doing so.
Hull, who said, "The UNCW master's program is very good in job placement," will start with the KPMG Accounting Firm of Raleigh in September. Dr. Joanne Rockness, chair of Accountancy and Business Law, commented, when asked about Hull, "Katey was an outstanding student and strong leader in the MSA program. I am confident that she will be extremely successful at KPMG."
