UNCW POET WINS INTERNATIONAL FELLOWSHIP FROM NC ARTS COUNCIL

WILMINGTON, NC -- Michael White, associate professor of creative writing at UNC Wilmington, has won a full fellowship to the Artists' Residency Program at Chateau de La Napoule, France for the months of March and April 2001. During his residency at La Napoule, White will stay in a seaside chateaux that dates from the 13th century and is located five miles west of Cannes. White will work with an international group of scholars and artists.The La Napoule Residency Fellowship is a competitive grant for established and emerging artists which is funded by the North Carolina Arts Council and the French Ministry of Culture. It is awarded once each year to a North Carolina writer or artist. White's residency will take place during his UNCW faculty reassignment award for spring 2001.
