CREATIVE WRITING PROFESSOR PHILIP GERARD TO GIVE UNCW READING

WILMINGTON, NC -- Novelist and nonfiction writer Philip Gerard will read from new work at 8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 26, in Morton Hall, Bryan Auditorium.Gerard, who joined the Creative Writing Faculty in 1989, and was instrumental in establishing the MFA program, has authored three novels Hatteras Light, Cape Fear Rising and Desert Kill, as well as three books of nonfiction, Writing a Book That Makes a Difference, Brilliant Passage...A Schooning Memoir and Creative Nonfiction: Researching and Crafting Stories of Real Life. In addition, he has scripted 11 documentary programs for public television and has written more than 150 commentaries for public radio, some of which were heard on "All Things Considered."
