UNCW'S MCDANIEL HAS NEW BOOK

By Will Blount, PR InternWilmington--Dr. Clyde McDaniel, professor of sociology at UNC Wilmington, recently published the book titled 21st Century African-American Social Issues: A Reader. McDaniel has produced more than 80 publications, including four books. Issues is divided into three parts and includes an appendix: The Research Model for Studying Black Issues.
McDaniel specializes in applied social research, social problems, and urban sociology. His teaching career covers 39 years. He has done everything from teaching public school to directing research centers and presenting papers. The inspiration for the book was the changing racial scene of America, and whether or not race makes a difference. "My idea is that race is still important and there are still issues that need to be focused on; some are more subtle, but they still exist," said McDaniel.
