WILMINGTON, NC -- Dr. Michael Oren, a reserve officer in the Israeli military, will speak on current events in the Middle East at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 30, in the UNCW Warwick Center Ballroom. This free event is sponsored by the university's Office of the Chancellor, Division for Student Affairs, the Leadership Center and the University Union.

Oren, a senior fellow at the Shalem Center in Jerusalem, earned master's and Ph.D. degrees in the history of the Middle East from Princeton University. From 1995 to 1997, Oren was CEO of The Learning Company Educational Software, Israel Division. In addition, he served as director of the Israel Office of the American Jewish Committee and chief editor of The Journal of Israel History at Tel Aviv University
