WILMINGTON ­ The UNCW Alumni Association is seeking nominations for its two annual awards which recognize individuals for their outstanding contributions.

The Alumnus/Alumna of the Year Award is open to men and women who attended and/or graduated from Wilmington College or UNCW. The Distinguished Citizen Award is open to anyone for notable service to the university and the community.

The 2000 honors went to Gary Wayne Chadwick '69, Alumnus of the Year, and the late George Henry Hutaff, Distinguished Citizen, which was accepted by his daughter, Tabitha Hutaff McEachern.

Thursday, Nov. 30, is the deadline for nominations for the 2001 awards which can be made by writing a letter of recommendation to the UNCW Alumni Association Board of Directors. Please specify the award category and describe why you think the nominee merits the award. Include the nominee's name, address, daytime telephone number and work place.

The winners will be recognized at a formal awards dinner on Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, in the Warwick Center Ballroom.
