WILMINGTON, NC - You remember the scene - platform shoes, Farrah Fawcett hair, bellbottom pants, the Village People, pet rocks and mood rings. Wilco students were getting used to their impressive new name - the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.



The UNCW Alumni Association will recall those glory days of the '70s as graduates from 1970 to 1979 are welcomed back to campus on Saturday, Jan. 27, for Homecoming 2001.



The highlight of a day full of activities is the alumni homecoming dance featuring the music of The Embers in the Grand Ballroom at the Wilmington Hilton Riverside. The dance begins at 9 p.m. and includes heavy hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar and door prizes. Tickets are $15 a person and are available from alumni board members and at the alumni relations office in Wise Alumni House by calling 910.962.2682 or 800.596.2880.



In the spotlight at this year's homecoming will be Delta Upsilon, the campus's third fraternity, recognized originally in 1967 as Delta Epsilon. Zeta Tau Alpha sorority sisters will be welcomed back, too. The Zetas started out as Sigma Phi Sigma and first organized in 1967.
