UNCW AND THE KING’S ROAD WRITERS SERIES PRESENT READING BY AWARD-WINNING WRITER RICHARD BAUSCH

WILMINGTON, NC – Award-winning writer Richard Bausch will read from his work at 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 25, in UNCW’s Cameron Hall Auditorium. This free event is sponsored by the university’s Creative Writing Department and The King’s Road. A reception and book signing will follow in the lobby.



Bausch, who has written nine novels and seven short story collections, is the Heritage Chair in Writing at George Mason University. He is a visiting faculty member at UNCW. A recipient of the O. Henry Prize, the Best American Short Story Prize and an award in literature from the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters, Bausch was inducted into the Fellowship of Southern Writers.



Bausch’s novels include The Last Good Time, Real Presence, Violence, Good Evening Mr. & Mrs. America and All the Ships at Sea. The Last Good Time was made into a motion picture starring Maureen Stapleton. His ninth novel, Hello to the Cannibals, is scheduled for release later this year. Bausch’s collections of short stories include The Selected Stories of Richard Bausch, The Fireman’s Wife and Other Stories, Spirits and Other Stories. Additionally, Bausch has published short stories in Esquire, The New Yorker and the anthology, Best American Short Stories. A collection of new and selected stories, Requisite Kindness, is scheduled for publication in 2003.



Developed to offer distinguished literary events to the Wilmington community, The King’s Road Writers Series is made possible through funding from The King’s Road, which offers cards, stationery and gifts in Barclay Commons at the corner of Shipyard and Independence Boulevard. The next reading in the series will be Albert Goldbarth on Feb. 22.
