UNCW HOSTING TWO ART EXHIBITS

Wednesday, January 10, 2001

WILMINGTON, NC – UNC Wilmington is hosting the art exhibits “Stories – Past and Present” and “People and Places” through Monday, Feb. 19, in the Warwick Center and University Union Living Room, respectively.

“Stories – Past and Present” features artwork by Jane Lawton Baldridge, a local artist. The display is a one-woman show created on the computer. Paintings and images combine a variety of materials including family relics, love letters, dead roses and more. A Meet the Artist reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 11, in the center lobby.

Kathleen Nobles’ work is featured in the display “People and Places.” Incorporating vibrant colors with strong contrasts that lead the viewer’s eye, Nobles said painting is an emotional experience. Her creations “reflect her inner vision, how she feels about the scenes in front of her.” A Meet the Artist reception is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 12, in the union.
