TIBETAN SCHOLAR ROBERT THURMAN TO LECTURE AT UNCW

WILMINGTON, NC - Robert Thurman, professor and author, will present “The Pursuit of Real Happiness: The Dalai Lama’s Ethical Revolution” at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 13, in the UNC Wilmington Warwick Center Ballroom.Thurman, the Jey Tsong Khapa chair in Indo-Tibetan studies at Columbia University, is the author of Inner Revolution: Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Real Happiness. He earned bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. degrees from Harvard University and studied in Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in India and the United States. In 1998, he wrote “Freeing Tibet Is in China’s Interest” as an op-ed piece for The Wall Street Journal. It was regarded as a plausible plan to end the human rights violations and cultural destruction in Tibet.
Thurman’s presentation, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the UNCW Activities and Leadership Center as part of its Building Character by Design Lecture Series.
