WILMINGTON – Carmen Basilio! Basilio!, a screenplay based upon the life of the 1950s boxing champion and written by Dr. Lou Buttino, UNC Wilmington communication studies professor, earned first place at the eighth annual Twin Rivers Media Festival in Minden, W.Va.

The work, which is under review by the film studio DreamWorks, also won the Bronze Prize for Best Screenplay/Biography at the Worldfest Houston International Film Festival in 1999.
