The Rehearsal, set in 1950, brings to light the versatility and subtlety of one of the 20th century’s most prolific and respected playwrights. Combining brilliant humor with deadly accurate insight, Anouilh creates a unique world, simultaneously comic and tragic.

In The Rehearsal, members of the French aristocracy plan a costume party. The featured entertainment is an 18th-century play by Marivaux. Life imitates art as the dramatic situations re-created in rehearsal shed light on the characters’ real-life intrigues. Shining wit meets grim reality as the cast members examine their lives and their futures.

They’re only rehearsing a comedy… or is there just a bit more at stake?

Don’t miss THE REHEARSAL, opening February 21 in the Kenan Hall SRO Theatre on the UNCW campus.
