NATIONALLY SYNDICATED COLUMNIST MOLLY IVINS TO LECTURE AT UNCW

WILMINGTON, NC – Nationally syndicated columnist Molly Ivins will deliver the keynote address for UNCW’s observance of Women’s History Month at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 20, in Kenan Auditorium. Admission is free; however, tickets are required. A limited number of tickets for the general public will be available after March 5.As a columnist for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Ivins writes about Texas, national politics and other bizarre happenings. Her column is published occasionally in the Wilmington Star-News. Ivins, born and raised in Houston, earned a bachelor’s degree from Smith College and a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University. She studied for a year at the Institute of Political Science in Paris.
As a reporter, Ivins worked for the Houston Chronicle, the Minneapolis Tribune and The New York Times. Her freelance work has appeared in numerous publications including Esquire, The Atlantic, Harper’s and TV Guide. In addition, Ivins does occasional commentary for National Public Radio and the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer.
A three-time finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, Ivins is the author of the best-selling book Molly Ivins Can’t Say That, Can She?, a collection of essays on politics and journalism. Her other works are Nothin’ but Good Times Ahead, You Got to Dance with Them What Brung You: Politics in the Clinton Years and Shrub, a book about George W. Bush.
